ASPSF Receives LR Chamber’s 2024 Community Impact Award

Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund has been recognized with the 2024 Community Impact Award for its commitment to empowering single parents through education.

The accolade was presented at the Small Business Impact Awards luncheon hosted by the Little Rock Regional Chamber on May 8 at the Robinson Center. The event celebrated five awards and 15 finalists for their innovation, vision, and contributions to the local community.

The Community Impact Award specifically recognizes a 501c3 nonprofit in Little Rock that “impacts the community through advocating, enabling and empowering an underserved, underrepresented or disadvantaged population in our area,” according to the Chamber. ASPSF was one of three finalists for the category alongside Recycle Bikes for Kids and ICM: Independent Case Management.

“We are grateful to the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce for recognizing our work and its impact on single parents in Arkansas,” said Jenn Morehead, ASPSF Executive Director. “It is a wonderful testament to the commitment of the ASPSF community, including donors, volunteers, partners, staff, and especially the single parents we serve.”

Since 1990, ASPSF has worked tirelessly to end single parent poverty through higher education. Through flexible scholarships and wraparound services, ASPSF empowers low-income single parent students to complete their education, start a new career that increases their income, and set a powerful example for their children. Today, thousands of professionals – teachers, nurses, accountants, welders, mechanics, and more – in the community got their first degree or certification with the help of ASPSF.

“We believe that education is a powerful tool for breaking down barriers and creating brighter futures,” said Wendy Stotts, ASPSF development manager who accepted the award on behalf of ASPSF. “We are proud to be part of a community that values education and empowerment, and we remain committed to creating opportunities for single parents to achieve their academic and career goals.”
